Adam Combies

Founding Partner

Adam Combies co-founded Combies Hanson, P.C. in 2010. Adam focuses his practice on personal injury litigation throughout Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Prior to representing injured plaintiffs, Adam was recognized as one of Massachusetts’ “Rising Stars” in the field of civil litigation defense by the publishers of Law & Politics and Boston Magazine in 2009.

During his time as a defense attorney, Adam represented a wide array of insurers, re-insurers and third-party administrators in state and federal court, including actions concerning municipal liability, products liability, premises liability and the defense of toxic tort and other long-term environmental exposure claims. Prior to entering the private sector, Mr. Combies served a one-year term as Law Clerk for the Honorable Patricia A. Hurst of the Rhode Island Superior Court.

A member of the Massachusetts Bar since 2007, and the Rhode Island Bar since 2006, Mr. Combies received his B.S. in Finance from Boston College and his J.D. from Syracuse University College of Law. At Syracuse, Mr. Combies was a Dean’s Scholarship recipient and served as an Associate Editor for the Journal of International Law and Commerce.

Mr. Combies also is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the District of Rhode Island and the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts.

Matthew Hanson

Founding Partner

Matthew Hanson co-founded Combies Hanson, P.C. in 2010. Mr. Hanson handles catastrophic injury and wrongful death personal injury cases throughout Massachusetts. He is one of the few attorneys in the state that brings single injury lawsuits against Class III medical device and pharmaceutical manufacturers for under-reporting adverse events to the FDA – claims in tort typically barred by Federal Preemption. He also handles employment and bad faith insurance cases.

Mr. Hanson has argued at the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court. He tries cases to verdict for his clients and other lawyers. He is, among other things, a true believer in righting wrongs and helping those who have experienced tragic loss.

Prior to forming Combies Hanson, P.C., Mr. Hanson handled toxic tort claims for a Boston-area law firm. He handles cases throughout Massachusetts, including the Cape and Islands.

Mr. Hanson received the Super Lawyers Rising Star award between 2013 – 2019. He received the Super Lawyers award between 2020 – 2023.

A member of the Massachusetts Bar since 2008, Mr. Hanson is a graduate of Suffolk University Law School, Boston, MA and the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA.

Christopher Pasquale

Attorney at Law

Christopher M. Pasquale joined Combies Hanson in August 2015. Mr. Pasquale’s practice includes personal injury, insurance litigation, landlord/tenant matters and other general civil litigation matters. Prior to joining Combies Hanson, Mr. Pasquale founded his own practice, Pasquale & Associates, LLC. There he handled a wide variety of matters including personal injury, criminal defense, landlord/tenant, wills and estate administration and general civil litigation.

Mr. Pasquale has been a member of the Massachusetts Bar since 2010, receiving his law degree in the same year from Suffolk University Law School, where he was a member of Phi Delta Phi, an international legal honor society. In 2007, he received his B.A. from Boston University, majoring in political science with a concentration in international relations. Mr. Pasquale was a recipient of the Presidential Scholarship each year while studying at Boston University.

Mr. Pasquale is also a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association. When not in the office, he can be found at Agganis Arena cheering on the Boston University Terriers’ ice hockey team.

Stephanie Rodriguez-Ruiz

Attorney at Law

Stephanie joined Combies Hanson in April 2022 where she handles a range of personal injury cases with a focus on civil litigation.  Prior to joining the firm, Stephanie served as a staff attorney at the Children’s Law Center of Massachusetts representing low-income families in their special education and discipline matters. Stephanie also obtained over ten years of experience in personal injury and civil litigation during her time at a Boston law firm while attending college and law school. 

Stephanie attended UMass School of Law on a Public Interest Law Fellowship, a scholarship for students committed to pursuing justice in the public field. During her time at UMass, Stephanie was a law review lead editor, instructional assistant, and Dean’s Fellow.  She was also chosen as a Rappaport Fellow, a competitive and prestigious fellowship program only offered to 12 law students across the state of Massachusetts.  Prior to UMass, Stephanie attended Boston University where she received her B.A. in business management.  At Boston University, she was recognized on the Dean’s List and was a member of the University’s honor society, Alpha Sigma Lambda.

When not providing zealous advocacy for the firm’s clients, Stephanie co-chairs the family council at Boston Arts Academy and sits on the school’s board of trustees.

Stephanie is our resident bilingual attorney, and is always ready to provide services in English or Spanish.

Amanda Sousa

Paralegal

Amanda is a highly skilled and dedicated paralegal professional with over 10 years of experience in the legal field. Amanda is a proud graduate of Marymount Manhattan College, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Acting and Liberal Arts. She also earned her Paralegal Certification at Bristol Community College.
Amanda is known for her exceptional attention to detail, strong research skills, and ability to work well under pressure. She is a master at drafting legal documents, managing case files, and establishing strong rapport with clientele.
In her free time, Amanda enjoys reading, writing, and, most importantly, being a mom to her nine year old daughter, Skylar.
Amanda is a true professional, and her passion for the law, and people, make her a standout in the legal field.
